Making a "Hot" Summer Song, Part 2


Don't bore us, get to the chorus.

Those are words to live by when it comes to summer music. A good summer song has to have a catchy hook. It's gotta make you want to sing along in the car, in the shower, or on the beach.

Now, let's be clear: We're not saying we succeeded in writing a good summer song, just that we tried to do it. You can be the judge of whether we pulled it off in our new song, "Hot Mess."



Catchy As F*ck

One of the greatest compliments we received after releasing our first EP came from a fan on Facebook who wrote, This is catchy as f*ck!

Not the kind of comment we can forward to our mothers, but we'll take it!

On "Hot Mess" we tried to write a hook with some heat, like looking down an asphalt street in New Orleans on a hundred-degree day. It's a call-and-response between the lead and background vocals, like an exchange between a judge and jury, or a preacher and choir.
