Frank Zappa Conducting A U.S. Navy Band

We love this video clip of Frank Zappa in an impromptu jam with a U.S. Navy marching band.

The Navy band surprised FZ when he was arriving at the San Francisco airport some time back in 1980.


You can tell Frank is genuinely tickled -- he can't stop smiling as the boys in blue play his music. Then he eagerly jumps in and conducts the band through "Joe's Garage."

Such a fun video for Frank Zappa fans, and now part of a documentary on his life. Click on the image to watch the video:
